Describe the symptom first

No hot water, inconsistent temperature and water near a heater are different starting points. Tell us whether the problem affects every outlet, how long it has been happening and whether the pattern has changed.

A symptom alone does not establish the cause. Do not remove covers, change internal settings or attempt gas or electrical repairs. If the situation is urgent, call to discuss the next step.

  • Which outlets are affected?
  • Is the issue constant or does it occur at certain times?
  • Is there visible water or a displayed fault code?

Gather the equipment details

If the label is safely visible, note the make, model, fuel type and approximate age. Tell us whether you have a tank or a tankless unit and whether previous repairs have been made. If you do not know, say so; you can still enquire.

These details help establish the existing system and confirm service scope. They do not replace an assessment of the fault or installation.

Compare the complete options

A repair discussion considers the problem, equipment condition and availability of appropriate parts. A replacement discussion also considers capacity, space, access and the existing connections.

Changing equipment type may involve more than exchanging the heater. Ask whether plumbing, venting, gas, electrical or other installation work needs to be considered, and who is responsible for each part of the agreed scope. Do not assume every replacement fits the existing setup.

Questions worth asking before you decide

Ask what each option includes, how any required assessment is charged, what is known about parts or equipment availability, and what interruption to service may be involved.

Confirm the specific manufacturer and workmanship terms, any applicable permits or inspection arrangements, and whether removal of old equipment is included. Fraser Fix can discuss the work after understanding your property and system.

  • What is causing the problem, and what is still uncertain?
  • What is included in the proposed repair or replacement?
  • What maintenance does the selected equipment require?
